INTRODUCTION
Everyone feels happy in a joyful and safe classroom environment. Pupils learn best when they are relaxed and motivated by the projects and activities which teachers work hard to create for them. Teachers gain great satisfaction from watching their pupils engage with enthusiasm in their learning but also from watching them interact with each other in acceptance and with joy. This course will explore how we can strive to create positive and fluid classroom atmospheres through the use of restorative circle activities, group and spatial dynamics, rhythm, songs and movement. At the same time teachers will learn to observe their pupils through their styles of engagement and play and identify individual and relationship patterns which can then be worked on at a later stage in PSHE and restorative practice sessions.
OBJECTIVES
This is a face-to-face course for new and experienced Primary School teachers working in an EFL or bilingual setting who wish to refresh or add to their repertoire of tried and trusted activities, games and practices. During this course you will develop an understanding and awareness of the stages of development of children in their primary school years and which type of restorative practices, movement and spatial dynamic activities best speak to that particular stage. You will also gain a repertoire of engaging activities to stimulate fluid interaction and learning in a dynamic and playful manner whilst at the same time being able to stand back and observe your pupils in action. The course aims to help you:
o Enlarge your personal repertoire of creative activities.
o Improve mood and atmosphere in the classroom.
o Encourage positive behaviour in your pupils.
o Motivate your pupils to want to achieve.
o Inspire you to want to research and experiment more with group dynamics and restorative practices.
