INTRODUCTION
We will be exploring how aspects of professional coaching can be incorporated into language teaching. There will be a general introduction to coaching and coaching models/conversations with a focus on developing coaching competences and skills, such as active listening and powerful questioning. We will then see how to integrate coaching conversations into the learning process, in particular to bring compassion, solve or sound board. Motivation and Powerful goal setting conversations will also be practised, as well as delivering grammar through the coaching model PACT PQC.
In addition, an introduction as to how to integrate neuroscientific principles into the classroom will be discussed and practised. The more that educators bring metacognition into the classroom, the greater the impact.
OBJECTIVES
• Using professional coaching as a vehicle to change the way educators communicate to really help learners and impact learner´s brains to provoke different trails of thought
• Coaching can help build up learner autonomy and confidence which is essential in language learning and even more so after the scars of the pandemic.
• Coaching competences can create powerful insights around emotional blocks and trauma where coaches find their own solutions and their own ways forward, empowering them to self-discovery.
• In addition, understanding how coaching can be a powerful tool to impact creativity may stimulate learners to become language creative and start to pattern the language themselves.
