INTRODUCTION
Crime fiction has become one -if not the most – popular genres in literature and television in the last years, having become the best-liked type of entertainment for a growing audience all over the world. Multiple reasons can explain the tremendous interest in this type of fiction: we may find comfort in the resolution of a mystery or we may fulfill our need to see good triumphing over evil. For others, fascinated by human behaviour, it gives us an insight on what makes people tick, whereas others may feel attracted, much in the same way as we stand and stare at an accident or incident, for our intrinsic voyeurism. Eventually, crime fiction provides a window into different worlds.
Besides, teachers and detectives have some characteristics in common. We both search for truth, typically with the help of others, in our case, with our students. The truth that they discover they also share, whether in a courtroom or in a classroom. The close observation and analysis that good detective fiction presents is analogous to the critical abilities students seek to master.
