CURSO: WHERE'S YOUR ENGLISH GOING? ADVANCED LANGUAGE AND METHODOLOGY WORKOUT FOR TEACHERS(CEP SANTANDER)

Imprimir

INTRODUCTION

Teachers sometimes feel that their English is getting rusty because they teach the same vocabulary and structures year after year, perhaps to learners of low levels. At other times, teachers may have advanced learners in their groups that need challenging with higher level language – and who may surprise their teachers from time to time with tricky questions. The purpose of this course is twofold. Firstly, it will boost teachers’ own English by giving them some time in a classroom as students of high-level language themselves. It will deepen their background knowledge of colloquial English, formal registers, of UK accents and the way that native speakers sometimes ‘break the rules’ or simply make mistakes. At the same time, the methodology used will be transferable to their own classes, giving them techniques and activities that will be particularly effective when working with their own higher-level students.

During this course, the English that participants know and speak will be treated with the maximum respect but we shall look to add to their repertoires and give them new words, expressions and insights that will revitalize and rekindle their passion for the language and make returning to the classroom all the more fun.

 learnt more colloquial English (mostly UK varieties)
 learnt about several UK accents through video footage and class discussion
